Our Every Drinks Matters strategy focuses on: We committed in December 2023 to set Science-Based Targets and are in the process of submitting these for approval. We use 100% renewable electricity to manufacture all our products in the UK and have an ongoing program of energy reduction and optimisation. To help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we launched the JuiSea Shipping project in August 2022. JuiSea Shipping is a collaboration between Refresco and Trilobes, which charters a vessel converted into a floating terminal for juice. This setup allows us to transport juice from Ghent, Belgium, to Portland on the south coast of the UK, reducing road transport and eliminating 2,000 truck trips annually—a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions versus the previous transportation method. We were honoured to receive the Make UK Midlands & East Energy and Sustainability Award in 2023 for this project. From a packaging perspective, we’ve completed projects to lightweight our packaging, increase recycled content, and make more packaging recyclable by removing coloured plastic and introducing tethered caps. For example, our shift to tethered caps across Emerge sports lid products has led to a 31% reduction in plastic content, reduced littering, and increased recycling rates. All our UK sites are zero-waste to landfill, undergo a SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) audit, and comply with the ETI (Ethical Trade Initiative) base code. 1. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our operations and supply chains 2. Water protection and efficiency 3. Reducing waste and increasing recycled packaging 4. Promoting responsible business practices along the value chain
